Hi, guys, welcome to Stephy’s new blog. It is my first blog written in English. What a great challenge! For the next three months, I will show my perspectives on social media marketing as part of my course requirements. Hopefully “blogging” will be a good habit for me to continue to share my ideas and life when this semester finishes.
Firstly, I want to say something about the unit MKF5601. This unit totally amazes me, not only because of the lively talkative class, but also the vivid communication platform and assessment forms. I hope we will enjoy this unit more during the semester.
To be honest, I was rarely involved in the “Western Social Media World”, because these stuffs are “blocked” in China, including Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, etc, we fail to log in any Western social media from any web sites within the territory of China. Certainly, this is a sensitive political issue. But I always use Chinese social media, such as RenRen (a Chinese version of Facebook), WeiBo (a Chinese version of Twitter).
Let me show you some screenshots of my Chinese social media…
RenRen (a Chinese version of Facebook)
One of the most famous WeiBo in China (a Chinese version of Twitter)
With the increasing number of overseas students, we sincerely hope that one day the “blocked” will be relieved when we are back China. Only in this way can the large country really develop fast. Agree with me?

Thanks Steffy - great to see some screenshots of the two Chinese SM sites. Amazing how similar RenRen is to Facebook.
ReplyDeleteI have been reading lately that China is becoming even stricter with access to external sites, partly due to the civil unrest in the Middle East. It's amazing to see how social media has changed some of those countries recently!
I'm looking forward to some interesting posts from you in your blog this semester.
I totally agree with u. I also use Weibo too. China is so strict on Western network. China should unblock all the Western website for freedom of communication.
ReplyDeleteHi Stephy! I think China is developing really quickly already. However I would like to see them unblock these services. For me as an international student, social media is one of my main tools for keeping in touch with friends overseas. However it makes it difficult for me to keep in touch with friends in China, as they cant use the english sites, and I cant use the Chinese ones for language reasons.
ReplyDeleteWeibo is an amazing success. It even goes to Japan and competes with twiter there.
ReplyDelete@Terry Wang You mean Sina Weibo or Tencent Weibo? It is such a great force nowadays in China.
